In The Garden

Are you feeling the pressure of the economy, too? As many of you know, Scott drives a total of two hours a day for work. Gas prices are killing us. As that goes up, so does the price of produce in the grocery store. Scott & I finally decided it was time to put in a garden and see how our green thumbs worked. I'm here to say that Scott's green thumb in fantastic. Mine on the other hand is black. Here are just a few pictures of the fruit of his labor. The kids have also enjoyed helping in the garden. The girls are always chewing on something they have just picked. An easy & healthy treat! We're already thinking of making it larger next year to add a few more veggies. Corn is one of them that is a must.

The Lyons Library invited Smokey the Bear to attend one of the last reading program days of the summer. I could not for the life of me get any of the kids to stand next to him. I guess Disneyland will have to wait if they can't handle those suits! LOL

My Summer Project:
PTA Clothing Drive & School Supply Giveaway!
With the help of many clothing donations the PTA was able to help several families receive gently used clothing. This event is my most favorite. It's an amazing feeling to see your idea come to life and change lives for the better. In my heart I dedicate this event to my late Uncle Perry. He changed many lives because of his volunteering. I want to make a difference like that, too. So, Lord willing, I will continue this clothing drive for as long as Mari-Linn School will allow me.

It's so much more satisfying to give, isn't it?

Along with used clothing, shoes, backpacks, books & sports gear we gave away brand new back packs thanks to a donation from Friends of The Family. Two gently used BMX bikes donated from the Stayton Police Dept. Last but not least, 6 State Fair tickets that were donated through the Fair Dept of The State of Oregon. I belong to the best PTA in the area. Many members stopped by after work or took the day to help me! I love you, Ladies!
