For the past two weeks our weather has been breathtakingly gorgeous. But Friday the rain came in... and in with a huge punch to our plans. The school's Red Ribbon Parade was canceled, as well as the first Plant the Promise Ceremony I was in charge of for the PTA. We have 250 red tulip bulbs sitting in the school desperately needing to be planted. Each student was to plant a bulb, as it represents their promise to stay drug free. The principal promised me they would get them planted on the very next nice day. Please pray with me that day is very soon.
Speaking of Red Ribbon Week, Miss Alexandra once again won for her stay drug free poster. This one was so clever! The girl continues to surprise me. It was a check list of things she hopes to accomplish. It went similar to this:
1. Age 13 still drug free
2. Bring home a 4.0 GPA
3. Go to a dance
4. Have fun in high school
5. Get a pet Rhino
6. Teach a fish to sing the National Anthem.
7. Age 17 still drug free... and so on.
By the time it was time to go Trick or Treating the weather had cleared up and stayed warm'ish. No coats were needed. The neighborhood we walked through is fantastic. The entire town comes together... It's like family reunion.
As you will see I allowed the kids to pick their entire costumes this year. I know some of you will be surprised to see Madison dressed as a skeleton. But it's a Girly Skeleton! Look at that cute pink purse & skirt. LOL Scott did the honors of makeup. We tried to dress her up a bit with blush & lipstick.
Alexandra once again cracks me up. I found her shirt at Value Village for
a few dollars. She loves stripes! Walking through Target a few weeks ago she spots the socks... then the glove/hat set. So, her costume is "A fashion designer gone mad in prison". Then she says "If old people ask me what I am, I'll say wall paper". Where does she come up with this stuff? I wanted to make stripes on her face, but she was only allowing the black...
Sir Hunter, Knight of the Knox Table. What can I say? He is the most handsome Knight I've ever laid eyes on. He did a fantastic job Trick or Treating. He walked, hardly complained of being tired. Said "T & T" and "Thank you". Mommy's heart swelled with pride. After leaving one of the first doors he walks up to me, opens his bag and says, "Look, that guy gave me more than one!". As I laid down with him for bed he wraps his little arm around me and says in a sleeping voice "Mom, this was the best night of my life".
